Employment Opportunity: Business Operations Manager

Organization Overview:

The Sioux Lookout Bombers are members of the Superior International Junior Hockey League. The business operations of the organization support the amateur hockey team through revenue generation and logistical support. The hockey operations deals with players, coaches and training staff, equipment and ice time, travel logistics, community outreach and the developing and competitive team and program.

Position Overview:

Start Date: ASAP
Salary: $26-28/hr
Full Time, One-year term, with possibility of extension
One-year term position is supported by the NOHFC Workforce Development Program (some eligibility requirements apply)
Hours: 37.5 hrs/week Required on-site for Bombers home games and major events (Golf Tournament) with flexible admin/office hours
Location: Sioux Lookout, ON

Working with the volunteer board of directors, this position is responsible for the business operations of the Sioux lookout Bombers including ticketing operations, merchandise, concessions, fundraising and advertising and sponsorships.

Ticketing Operations: Organize ticket inventory for each home game. Deliver advance tickets to outlets in community. Manage online ticket sales, prepare for box office pickup. Handle inquiries for bulk ticket sales. Organize volunteers for ticket sales at the box office. Ensure a seamless ticketing experience at the gate for fans and partners. Coordinate season ticket sales online and at sales events in the community.

Merchandise and Apparel: Manage the sales of team merchandise at the Merch Outlet, local vendors and online. Set up the Merch Outlet at the Hangar for each home game. Order merchandise from vendors and keep inventory organized and up-to-date. Respond to online purchases and prepare order for pick up or shipping via Canada Post.

Corporate Partnerships & Sales: Drive revenue through managing and growing relationships with corporate partners, including sponsorships, advertising and bulk ticket packages. Cultivate new relationships with local businesses and community partners for sponsorship opportunities. Maintain customer relationship management (CRM) database. Prepare sponsorship/advertising agreements. Invoice clients through bookkeeping software.

Fundraising Events and Youth and Development Camps: Assist in setting up events at various locations in the community. Assist with the planning and execution of the Bombers Golf Classic and other fundraising events, including advertising, team selections, deposit collection, scheduling, and registration.

Game Day and Special Events Concessions: Oversee setup and coordination to deliver unforgettable game-day experiences. Coordinate volunteers for Terminal food bar, Merch Outlet, and Beer and Beverage Station. Prepare floats and maintain enough small bills and rolled coin. Complete sales and cash reports nightly, reset floats to opening amounts and prepare cash deposits. Order merchandise from vendors and keep inventory organized and up-to-date.

Other duties: Prepare weekly update for submission to the Board of Directors on all aspects of business operations. Process payments to vendors and billets Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by the Board of Directors Maintain accurate records of partnerships, contracts, communications and financial transactions. Maintain volunteer database Use CRM software to implement and manage a volunteer registry.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes: Formal education in Business Management or related experience demonstrable history of sales talent and competence. Previous experience in sports administration, event management, or a related field. An understanding of business management, including systems, financials and growth planning. Competence with computerized bookkeeping and CRM applications. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in basic financial management and record-keeping. Familiarity with hockey operations is an asset but not mandatory.

NOHFC eligibility requirements: New entrant into the work force, transitioning to a new career, or unemployed or underemployed entering a new field; Have not previously participated in a NOHFC-funded internship; Are at least 18 years of age; and Reside, and be legally entitled to work, in Canada.
