Sioux Lookout Bombers Name Joel Litt-Jukes Head Coach
SIOUX LOOKOUT, ONTARIO – The Sioux Lookout Bombers Jr. A Hockey Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel Litt-Jukes as the organization's new Head Coach.
The hiring comes following the recent decision by Head Coach Carson Johnstone to step away from the organization to focus on his family. Prior to Johnstone's departure, Litt-Jukes had been engaged in discussions with the Bombers regarding an assistant coaching position. As the coaching search evolved, the Board of Directors was increasingly impressed by Litt-Jukes' leadership qualities, hockey knowledge, and vision for the future of the team, ultimately identifying him as the ideal candidate to lead the program.
"Joel first came onto our radar as a candidate for an assistant coaching role," said Vice President Austen Hoey. "As our conversations progressed and the circumstances surrounding our coaching staff changed, it became clear that he possessed the qualities we were looking for in a head coach. His passion for player development, his understanding of team our culture, and his vision for building a successful program stood out throughout the process."
Litt-Jukes said he is grateful for the opportunity and excited to join an organization that has established itself as one of the SIJHL's premier programs.
"I am honoured to be named Head Coach of the Sioux Lookout Bombers," said Litt-Jukes. “I am excited to get started and I am incredibly grateful for the confidence the organization has shown in me. The Bombers have built a tremendous reputation throughout junior hockey, and I am excited for the opportunity to work with our players, staff, volunteers, and community as we continue to pursue excellence on and off the ice."
The Bombers would also like to recognize and thank outgoing Head Coach Carson Johnstone for his dedication and contributions to the organization over the past four seasons.
Reflecting on his time with the Bombers, Johnstone said:
"I had such a great time in my four years in Sioux Lookout, building relationships with players and people in the community. I appreciate the support from the fans and the people who are the true heartbeat of the program. I know the program is in great hands, and I wish the Bombers continued success in the future."
Johnstone also thanked the Board of Directors for their support and noted that he will always cherish the memories created with the organization, particularly the experience of "hoisting Bill in front of a packed crowd" in the Hangar.
"Carson's impact on the Bombers extends far beyond wins and losses," added President James Brohm. “Not only did he lead our team to our first Bill Salonen Cup championship, he helped shape our organization and played a significant role in the development of many young athletes. We are incredibly grateful for his contributions and fully support his decision to prioritize his family. We wish Carson and his family nothing but the best in the future."
The Sioux Lookout Bombers look forward to beginning this new chapter under Litt-Jukes' leadership as preparations continue for the upcoming SIJHL season.
