SIJHL Goaltender of the Year – Jack Osmond

By Tanner Schafer

Thunder Bay, ON – With a dominant sophomore season in the SIJHL, Sioux Lookout’s Jack Osmond has claimed the Goaltender of the Year Award. Osmond is no stranger to winning league wide accolades, last year he was always in the running for Goaltender of the Month although he did it in a different sweater. Making the switch from Red Lake to Sioux Lookout only strengthened Osmond’s game and the stats reflect it. The ‘03 from Edmonton was better by almost a full goal per game dropping his 3.13 goals against average last year to 2.22 this season. He also saw his save percentage climb to .939 from .924. With over 1,600 minutes played Osmond led all goalies who logged a minimum of 1,000 minutes in both of those stats. He also added 3 shutouts while manning the net for the best defensive team in the League. Osmond helped the Bombers to secure the #2 seed in the SIJHL playoffs, and has been lights out through the first round and into the second. The Bombers are looking to make a deep playoff run for the 1st time in their history and who better to lead them than the SIJHL Goaltender of the Year, Jack Osmond.

Honorable Mention for Goaltender of the Year goes to Ethan Neitsch of the Red Lake Miners and Keenan Marks of the Thunder Bay North Stars
