Ice Dogs Overpower Bombers

Sioux Lookout, ON – The Dryden Ice Dogs brought their high-energy game to the Hangar for the last regular season matchup between these two teams. The Sioux Lookout Bombers struggled to find their stride and were ultimately blanked 5-0 in front of a near-sellout crowd at the Hangar.

This first period saw the Bombers on the power play three time but were unable to convert with the man advantage. Dryden however, capitalized on their one power play of the frame. Landen Stromme sent a quick shot toward Manners just above the pad on his right side at 15:02. The Ice Dogs carried that one-goal lead into the intermission.

The Bombers continued to struggle in the second period to exit their zone cleanly and as a result ended up icing the puck time and time again. The constant stoppages had a cooling effect and the crowd of Bombers fans found very little to get excited about. The Ice Dogs on the other hand added three more with goals from Brady Frattinger, Bryce Benfield and James Hooton.

The third period was a bit of a wild ride with a total of 64 combined penalty minutes assessed against the two teams. Dryden’s Rhys Maksimow and Max Rath, and Sioux Lookout’s Tyler Decoff and Logan James given 5 minutes each for fighting and a game misconduct for their participation in a melee at the 6:13 mark. The Ice Dogs would add one more goal to their tally with Frattinger’s second of the night at 11:05.

Eric Clark picks up his 22nd win and third shutout of the season. Jake Manners made some stellar saves but ended up giving up five goals in the losing effort.

Both teams are back in action on Monday afternoon for Family Day games with Dryden hosting Thunder Bay and the Bombers visiting the Miners.
