Volunteer Posting – Communications Assistant

Are you passionate about storytelling, social media, and Bombers Hockey?
Do you want hands-on experience in communications while supporting a community organization?
We’re looking for a Volunteer Communications Assistant to help us share the energy, heart, and hustle of our players with fans and partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Create engaging content for our social media channels (photos, short videos, graphics, posts).
  • Assist with game-day communications: live updates, post-game summaries, and player spotlights.
  • Help maintain and update bombershockey.ca with news, schedules, and announcements.
  • Support email newsletters and fan outreach initiatives.
  • Work with coaches and team staff to gather stories, stats, and behind-the-scenes material.
  • Contribute creative ideas to grow our visibility and community engagement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter).
  • Basic photo/video or graphic-design abilities are a plus—but enthusiasm matters most.
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently.
  • A genuine interest in sports, hockey, or community athletics.

What You’ll Gain

  • Real-world experience in digital communications, marketing, and sports media.
  • Portfolio-building content and bylines.
  • A chance to be part of a fun, dedicated team environment.
  • Community service hours if required for school or personal development.

Time Commitment

Flexible—typically 5-10 hours per week, with extra involvement on game days.
