QUICKSTATS
GAME RECAP
The visiting Fighting Walleye took control of the game early generating the majority of the chances to start off the first period. Kaden Goodwin got the Walleye on the board first driving to the net and picking up a rebound and putting it over the glove of Matthew Ofukany at 6:21. The Bombers tilted the ice in their favour as the period progressed but were unable to get any pucks behind Walleye net minder, Brady Low. Shots on net through the first 20 minutes were 15 for the Walleye and 7 for the Bombers.
The second period was a much more evenly matched battle with the Bombers getting the edge on the shot counter 15 to 12. However, the Fighting Walleye scored the only goal in the period. A Steele Jowett shot just made it past the goal line to put the visitors up by two with just over a minute left in the middle stanza.
At 6:17 of the third period, Carter Poddubny pounced on a loose puck a delivered an absolute rocket past Ofukany to give the Walleye a two-goal cushion. The game’s only power play marker was scored by the Bombers at 13:54. Driving the net hard paid off for Gursiman Mann as he got his seventh tally of the season. Sebastian Hetterich added an empty net goal with 44 seconds left in regulation to lift the visiting Walleye to a 4-1 victory over the Bombers.
Shots on net were dead even at 35 a piece and the game only saw a total of 5 minor infractions as both squads played relatively disciplined. The game’s third star was the Bombers captain, Kaden Veller, picking up an assist on the lone Bomber goal. Brady Low’s 34 save performance earned him the second star and the Steele Jowett was named first start for his efforts on the game-winning goal.
