GAME RECAP

Although the Bombers have only been in the league for four years, the Sioux Lookout-Dryden sports rivalry (especially in hockey) is alive and well. The Battle of 72 reignited at the Hangar in front of an enthusiastic Tuesday night crowd of over 300 fans.

The first half of the game was tight checking as both teams played well defensively. Neither team gave up very many good scoring chances. Nick Webb got the start for the Bombers and Carsten Komorowski for the Ice Dogs. Both played well but more so their respective teams played very well in front of them, keeping shots to the outside and clearing traffic in front of each net. At 17:38 of the first period, Noah Tenney, fresh out of the penalty box, got behind the Bombers defence and scored on a breakaway, tucking the puck behind Webb. It was Tenney's sixth of the season and first since being traded to the Ice Dogs on January 1st. Shots on net in the first were 11-6 in favour of the Ice Dogs.

The second and third periods were much of the same with very few grade-A scoring chances at either end. Shots were low with Dryden only mustering up 19 more and Sioux Lookout putting 17 more on Komorowski for the remainder of the game. However, the physicality ramped up as the game went on and both teams delivered some thunderous hits.

The Bombers made a late push for the equalizer, pulling Webb for the extra attacker but the Ice Dogs held on to take the fourth game in the season series between the two teams. The Battle of 72 is all evened up on the season with each team taking two wins on the road so far.

Neither team was successful on the power play. There were only 5 minor penalties handed out all night between both squads. The lone goalscorer, Tenney was named first star and the goalies earn the other stars, with Komorowski being second and Webb third.
